What does the MADiSON ending mean?

What happens at the end?

At the end of MADiSON, Luca returns to the room with a chair and candles. Now he has collected everything he had to bring for the final ceremony, whether he is fully aware of it or not. Around the chair are four statues with ritual objects on plates, including one with the skull of Madison Hale. Luka will use the combination to open the locked space on the plinth is an urn with the ashes of Elizabeth Maxwell.

This is the last part of the ritual. You receive a notification to check Luka's red diary. It has a hastily painted black polaroid and the words dad's head crossed out above it and replaced with Hanged Son below. After wandering around the room for a bit, you will realize that the only next step you can take is to put the camera on a stand. Once the camera is in place, the chair rotates towards Luca.

You may have noticed this earlier in the game, but there was a noose tied over the chair all the time. Luka then approaches as he hears a voice whispering his name. He gets up on a chair and quickly hangs himself. You watch him slowly gasp and gasp as the vision of the game blurs. The camera autonomously photographs him from the pedestal, but does not manifest. Suddenly, like it's all over, Luka takes a breath. Then the game ends.

Luka dies in MADiSON?

Whether or not Luka is dead at the end of MADiSON will depend on how you feel about death. For all intents and purposes, Luke is dead. This is because his spirit and inner consciousness left with the hanging. Now he is possessed by a demon. It is even possible that his real body is dead and will begin to decompose, but this has not been confirmed. There is no chance that Luka's mind will return, so he is essentially dead and is now just a vessel.

Why didn't the photo show up?

In the last scene of MADiSON, the camera photograph of Luka being hanged does not progress. Instead, it just stays black. If you think back to earlier parts of the game, the only time the photo didn't manifest was during extreme psychological and demonic events. Luka used to shake the black photograph until his hand was covered in blood. This happens at the time of Luke's hanging, probably meaning demonic spirit is now inside of him so the photo doesn't appear.

Is Luca's family dead?

It's likely that Luca's entire family is dead. The first sign of this is the small jar that Luka opens at the start of the game. It was a photograph of two severed limbs, and the revelation worries Luca, who swears he couldn't have done it. Likewise, we know that Luca's father sobbed in the bathroom at the start of his family's destruction. Using this and other clues throughout, it is confirmed that his mother and sister Chanel are dead and Luca probably killed them.

From the beginning of the game, it is confirmed that Luca's grandmother is dead and passed away quite a while ago. Later in the story, you will be given clues that reveal his grandmother was weakened and killed by the Blue Knees. In the letter Grandpa Maxwell writes to Luka's father, we see him confirm that she was killed by the Blue Knees. Even he did not believe his wife at first, but finally understood after her death and feels guilty.

We learn that his grandfather is almost certainly dead in the same letter he admits to the cause of his wife's death. In the letter, he states that he will soon be with his wife again. He reasons like this: he tried everything (occult and so on) to get in touch with her beyond the grave. All of his efforts have failed, and it is implied that he may end his life.

As for Luka's father, we are not entirely sure of his fate. But judging by the fate of the rest of the Maxwell family, it's likely that Luka's father is also dead. In the last entry in Luka's diary, the part about his father's head has been crossed out, and the entry about Luka's hanging is in place. This may simply mean that he was passed over for the ritual, but it could also be an allusion to his demise.

Is Madison related to Luca?

Understandably, some people thought that Luka and Madison might be related in some way. This can be inferred from her intense focus on systematically going around the family in search of a new owner. Luka is not related to Madison however, at all. The only thing Luka and Madison have in common is their location. In the 1980s, when Madison Hale was on a killing spree, she was living at Grandpa Luca's house. The Maxwell family living in this building provided them with the opportunity to become the host.
